Company Lawyer
Job Summary
As the Company Lawyer focusing on Regulatory Compliance & Gaming Audits, you will serve as an individual contributor responsible for overseeing all legal aspects of the company’s audit and compliance workload. This includes scoping, rolling out, and maintaining the company’s compliance framework. You will liaise with regulatory bodies, service providers, and third parties, as well as collaborate with internal teams to ensure the company adheres to industry regulations and best practices.
A key responsibility of your role will be to deliver practical legal solutions by effectively aligning the company’s business objectives with applicable legal principles and frameworks. Your legal expertise will drive organizational success through compliance and strategic legal guidance while balancing regulatory requirements with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Liaison: Serve as the primary legal contact for regulatory bodies, service providers, and certification authorities, ensuring all requirements are met.
- Compliance Framework Management: Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures and create dashboards and reports for executive visibility.
- Monitor and Interpret Regulations: Stay informed about changes in online gambling regulations across jurisdictions to ensure compliance.
- Internal Audits and Risk Assessments: Conduct regular internal and external audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential compliance issues.
- Operational Support: Assist audit and operations teams in reviewing and assessing the compliance practices of online gambling operators.
- Compliance Incident Management: Investigate and address compliance-related incidents, breaches, or complaints promptly, maintaining accurate records of all activities.
- Training and Education: Provide training to internal staff and external parties on compliance procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Strategic Partnership: Advise the executive management team on key decisions and compliance-related legal issues.
- Review and Draft Legal Documents: Review contracts, draft legal documents, and provide expert legal advice as needed.
- Prepare TOR and Bidding Requirements: Provide guidance on, review, and refine Terms of Reference (TOR), and oversee the creation of comprehensive bidding requirements for projects, clients, and third-party services.Team Collaboration: Work with internal teams (e.g., operations, auditing, IT) and external legal firms to ensure a holistic approach to compliance.
- Secondary Functions: Provide legal advice to HR on labor relations and immigration law, assist with tax matters, and offer legal insights to other departments as needed.
- Other Duties: Perform any other functions as deemed relevant from time to time.
Job Qualifications and Specifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Valid license to practice law in the Philippines.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in corporate law, with a focus on regulatory compliance.
- Experience in the gaming industry is advantageous but not required.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply legal principles, aligning business needs with legal frameworks and delivering practical solutions in a professional setting.
- Skilled in legal research, contract drafting, and reviewing legal documents for compliance and accuracy.
- Competent in handling sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of integrity and discretion.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy.
Working Conditions
- Full-time, office-based position.
- Occasional travel may be required for meetings with regulatory bodies, service providers, or legal proceedings.
